Sample Letter to Prime Minister
(Address: The Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper, Prime Minister, Langevin Block, 80 Wellington St.,Ottawa ON K1A 0A2)
Note: Letters to the PM may be sent postage free.

Dear Mr. Prime Minister:

I (we) do not understand why your government has adopted the previous government’s position that New Brunswick’s policy of not funding abortion on demand at private clinics is somehow a violation of the federal law on Medicare (the Canada Health Act). If this is not the case, why has your health minister announced he is continuing to dispute our province’s policy?

In my (our) opinion, your government’s apparent position- which includes the bizarre concept that abortion on demand is automatically an insurable "medical necessity" - is more a reflection of pro-abortion ideology than rational public policy. How can you square this with your statements that you would not be taking a position on the abortion issue?

Mr. Prime Minister, please show leadership on this issue. Please direct your minister to drop the dispute with New Brunswick. Please allow our province to decide whether to fund abortion on demand at private clinics. Please stop trying to tell us taxpayers that we must fund the destruction on demand - with not proof of medical necessity - of your province’s unborn children even at clinics outside the public health system.

Yours sincerely,
