Dear Letters Editor:

The Board of Directors of the New Brunswick Right to Life Association condemns in the strongest possible terms the appalling murder on May 31, 2009 of Wichita, Kansas late-term abortion provider, Dr George Tiller. That this horrific act of violence took place in front of his family and at a place of public worship, makes it that much more heinous.

NB Right to Life unequivocally condemns all acts of violence that willfully violate the inherent right to life of each human being, at all stages of life, whether they are explicitly criminal or not, and irrespective of the moral character or beliefs of the victim.

The fact that the victim in this case was a controversial practitioner of some of the most extreme methods of abortion (which are especially reprehensible to our stand in defense of human life) only adds a level of tragic irony to the action, and in no way mitigates the character of the act as itself a violation of the right to life, and thus as totally inconsistent with an authentic pro-life integrity of belief. We defend this right for all, whether they agree with our view or not.

We join with the North American public in extending sincere condolences to and prayers for Dr Tiller’s family, his congregation and his supporters.

Susan Leger, President
