Letter to the Editor:

It has come to my attention that Mrs. Suzie Ryan has been thrown into a paddy wagon and into a Fredericton jail cell for peacefully protesting in a public place the abortion of our babies in the womb. She was then charged and has to appear in court for the crime of displaying “obscene” material, a poster of an aborted baby.

What irony! What is truly going on in Morgentaler’s abortion clinic is “Obscene.”

The dictionary defines obscene like this: offensive to chastity; impure in language or action; indecent; filthy; lewd. The tear out and kill the life of a baby in formation in a mother’s womb is all the above. It is murder!

Through a perversion of justice, Mrs. Ryan, who is working so hard to stop the massacre of the unborn children in the womb, was treated as a criminal, while the perpetrators go free! By her very life, Mrs. Ryan witnesses to great respect for all life for she herself has seven children! So she empathizes, I’m sure, with pregnant mothers, wed or unwed, who struggle to bring children into the world with little to offer except her love and support. I’m sure that the NB Right to Life offers such support readily .

I demand that all charges be dropped against Mrs. Ryan; at that she receives an apology from  Fredericton’s Chief of Police, Mr. Barry MacKnight.

For this type of unwarranted action to take place in our Province demands an uprising of those who oppose such a violent action. For you and I might very well be next if we do not protest and loudly, by our words, actions, and above all, our prayers. For we know that God is on our side! May solidarity in peaceful action be understood by all who act on this issue. Because that is the way God acts towards us. This is a violation of our human rights. Let us be silent no more!

I, for one, will begin by sending this letter to:
